Specializing in cognitive behavioral treatments
of anxiety disorders and depression

David Hart, MD PC

At the current time, I am providing time-limited (usually less than one year) individual psychotherapy alone or individual psychotherapy combined with medication management.  I am not providing medication management without individual psychotherapy and generally not providing long-term medication management, or long-term psychotherapy services.  Our office may be able to help with referral options if you are looking for medication treatment only.

I specialize in cognitive-behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders, specifically:

Panic Disorder
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Social Anxiety Disorder
Health Related Anxiety
Dental and Medical Anxiety
Driving and Flying Phobias
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)*

Numerous studies demonstrate that cognitive behavioral treatments (CBT) for anxiety disorders are as effective, or more effective, than medication treatments. CBT can also be effectively combined with medication treatments.

*I treat PTSD due to traumas sustained in adulthood. I do not treat military related PTSD or PTSD related to sexual-trauma in women. We may be able to help with referrals in conditions I do not currently treat.

I welcome people with depression and people who are confronting difficult life circumstances.   Again, I emphasize empirically supported individual psychotherapy and will combine treatment with medication when necessary. Depression tends to be recurrent, and I work with clients to develop strategies to prevent recurrence.

Stress is a term signifying something stressful in life. This can be related to job, family, health, relationships and other things.  Stress can result in depression, anxiety, insomnia, trouble functioning, and worsening of body problems such as headaches, digestive problems, urinary frequency, tirednes, dizziness, etc.  Many of the skills that work with anxiety and depression management also work well for stress related  problems. Finding ways to modify stressful situations and/or increase peace of mind about situations is helpful.  I also like to work with mindfulness strategies that help with enhancing peace of mind throughout the day.

If you are unsure, feel free to call me.
